When Patricia Ann Harmon gave birth to her son, Jeffrey Allen Harmon, April 10, 1970, she didn’t want to hold him.“I was afraid I would get too attached and couldn’t give him up,” Patricia Harmon explained.

Tornado, winds thrash Threshermen’s Park, volunteers assist county cleanup

A tornado spun its way around the Andover area June 29 and straight line winds left behind a trail of damage to buildings and trees. The tornado was part of a thunderstorm that was felt across the state and brought hail and extreme winds to Day County. No injuries were reported.

Local farmers see slimmer hay harvest due to county mowing

Day County farmer Dean Townsend voiced concern about county mowing operations reducing his hay yield at the County Commission meeting June 30.Townsend, of northeastern Day County, claimed the Highway Department recently mowed roadside ditches in the right of way around his property.
