As you walk outside this week, take a moment to look around. Eastern monarch butterflies are passing through Day County right now on their southward fall migration and local residents can spot them roosting in trees, grazing around lakes and drinking nectar in flower-filled gardens.

One hardly needs to search to see a few passing monarchs, heading towards their wintering grounds in northern Mexico.…
