In early April, Slade Owen started working for the Day County Sheriff’s Office as the newest deputy. Owen stated he grew up near Wilmot and spent time in the Enemy Swim and Waubay area as well while growing up. Owen previously worked for Marshall County as a deputy for three years. Effective April 7, Slade Owen is the newest deputy for the Day County Sheriff’s Office. Slade stated he previously worked for Marshall County for three years, got certified and was a deputy. According to Slade, it was time for change, which is why he came to Day County. He explained, Marshall County was less busy compared to Day County and it’s also closer to his home.
