The day after Easter, 1994, Lorinda Towe got a chance at a renewed life.
Two years prior, a virus had destroyed her heart.
“Instantly, I couldn’t do anything,” Towe says.
She had a choice. Do nothing, and maybe live six months, or take it very easy on her heart and hope for an eventual transplant.
Towe chose the second option.
For two years and four days she stayed in bed or in a chair and waited.
