The Scottish village has had different spellings over the years but was the namesake for Roslyn, SD which was named by Lindsey (Schoenbeck) Koenig’s great great great great grandfather Henry Horace Russell who was the first Postmaster for Roslyn, SD in 1882 and immigrated from Scotland to the U.S. in 1849.
In 1882 Henry Horace Russell a Scottish immigrant took up residence in Day County and as the first Postmaster of Roslyn, named the town after his native village of Roslin Scotland.
