Sobriety checkpoints

A total of 23 sobriety checkpoints in 18 counties including Day have been scheduled for November by the SD Dept. of Public Safety. They are conducted by the SD Highway Patrol and are designed to discourage motorists from drinking and driving.

 

Special meeting

City of Webster will hold a special meeting Nov. 16, 8 a.m. regarding change orders for the Fire Hall project.

 

Community Thanksgiving

Community Thanksgiving worship is Nov. 18, 7 p.m. at American Lutheran Church, Webster. Community choir rehearsal is Nov. 14, 8:15 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Thanksgiving Day worship is Nov. 22, 9:30 a.m. at Heritage Village Chapel, Webster. Thanksgiving dinner is served Nov. 22, 11:45 a.m. at the Golden Age Center, Webster with takeouts available at 12:30 p.m. Reservations are encouraged at the Golden Age Center or any Webster area congregation.

 

Jerry Barlow concert

Celtic fingerstyle guitarist Jerry Barlow will perform in the Webster Area High School music room. Enter through the high school’s east front door or the north door by the business office. Concerts are open to the public Nov. 13, 10:15 and 11:30 a.m., 12:49 p.m.; Nov. 14, 9:10 a.m., 12:40 and 2:45 p.m. Proceeds go to repair of the Day County Arts Center roof.

 

Soup lunch

Soup lunch will be served Nov. 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Webster American Legion clubroom. Proceeds go toward the 2019 Webster-Dewangen German Exchange.

 

School board meeting

Webster Area School Board meets Nov. 15, 7 a.m. Action items include approval of temporary salaries, volunteer coaches, supplemental budget and revised policies Agenda also includes reports, armory agreement and executive session for personnel.

 

Community meeting

Community meeting will be Nov. 20, 6 p.m. at Strand-Kjorsvig Living Center, Roslyn to discuss future plans of the living center. Strand-Kjorsvig Foundation’s annual meeting will be held at the same time at Roslyn Town Hall. Chili and chicken soup supper will be served from 5-7 p.m.

 

Tortured for Christ

Westside Wesleyan Church is hosting a showing of Tortured for Christ Nov. 14, 6:30 p.m. at Bristol Community Center. Not recomended for children under 13.

Senior Health Information and Insurance Education advocates will help consumers with Medicare Wednesdays 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Bridging Center at Day County Arts Center, Webster or call Tandra Smidt, (605) 345-4102 for an appointment.

Webster’s Jingle & Mingle holiday open house is Nov. 17, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with specials, food, drinks, drawings and more.
